New sketch

Sooooo....

It has been a rocky last 2 months, I'll tell ya all about it in another post. I'm still sketching with my drawing group and I love it. It's more adult but without the pretense.

Here's my last, enjoy, and as always, please comment and/or 'like'.

Painting is hard...

So I whipped out my paints last night at a painting session and did this. It was a lot of fun but I think I'm still searching for my own way of making marks. A lot of my strokes were tentative. I just need to do more and more and more :))

By the way, this was done in oils...

New work

So I just got back from Koken. We had a group drawing / painting session. I did some exploration with Sumi ink on Yupo paper. It's such a strange texture but does some really interesting things. I still had time to so a pastel painting of the model. I also gave her one of the drawings.

Let me know what you think, and please click a few starts if you like it.

New Show coming up...fast

So I'm part of a show that's coming up fast. The submission deadline is this Friday. I have to submit 3 large paintings, 3 by 4 feet and I've just started today! hahaha.

Leave it to me to work under pressure.

Should I show the progress of the work or just show the final product?

It's done and will be delivered tomorrow, yay!

Here it is, what do you think? I did it for $200. Not bad heh? So, who's next??? lol

Classical or Expressionist

I've been working on my self portrait for class and I HATE it. I can't stand this tedious glazing and glazing and glazing. The process is just tooooooo slow for me.
I guess I'm more of an expressionist type of guy. I like my brush strokes to show. This is who I am, my brush strokes, not my subject.
Anyway...my ex sent me a text photo of her baby last night. I swear she's doing this on purpose! So I sent her back a text/photo of my new bedroom :)
I think the last thing I text her was: I curse the day I met you! hahaha.

This one sold in Paris

So a friend of mine brought this painting in Paris with her and sold it. Yeah!!!
I need the $ or should I say €€€ because I get paid in Euros :)
I wish the photo could show you the true colors of the painting... It doesn't do it justice.
I need a new digital camera. Mine is shot (get it? ha, ha, ha). The one I really want is the Canon powershot A630. I love it!
Can you buy it for me? Pleeeease.
It's on my wish list from Amazon.

June will be tricky...

Oh boy! June is going to be tricky. By the way, my birthday is June 9th. Well I have to come up with 20 paintings by the 31th of May for the Hartford Coffee openning (the actual opening will be Sunday June 12th from 1 to 4pm), 5 more for Gallerie M by mid June and I was hoping to have a few pieces more for this thing in Colorado. Kurt lives there and there's this block party where tons of people will be walking the streets and buying stuff. If I get some money, I'm outta here. I'd like to go to Cabanas Copal in Tulum, actually I'd rather go to Azulik which is right next door. It's this wonderful clothing optional, no electric (except in the restaurant and bar), candlelight everywhere and the cabanas are right on the beach. I can't wait!...I guess I can :).

AkaChique Gallery

So I put up some of my paintings in chique gallery. It's a wonderful place in Arnold, yes Arnold! This little place is booming with constructions everywhere. They can't build the houses fast enough.I met with Sue, a wonderful lady that has this gallery that would stand up to any gallery in St. louis. There are 2 levels and a variety of artwork displayed. You should check it out some time.

ARt D. party update

The party last night was awesome!!!Loved it! There was a nude model with paint all over her posing as the many artists in the room were doing sketches of her.The art works were great. Ambience wonderful, free beer, wine and food. A lot of happy people hanging together. Thanks to Katia, Aurelie, Virginie and all other friends that attended. I greatly enjoyed your company.I met some interesting people too. I met 2 girls that actually were in Guadeloupe, and they loved it!Dominique and Virginie dance while everyone watched. I wish I had a digital camcorder this way I could post the clip here.Life is good to me...I'm trully blessed.
If you missed this event, you're not going to want to miss the next one. It's the grand opening of ArtDimensions in the St. Louis Center on May 13, 2005. I 've seen the place and it looks great! Art everywhere and lot's of space plus it's right on Washington Ave.
Well Earthday is around the corner...actually tomorrow. I might play some drums there. I was thinking of doing henna but I don't have any more paste. Do and I will ride ours bikes. I hope it's going to be nice. Last year it was cold and rainny.
